The Work I started with Pramerica in June 2007 in the PMCC Financial Centre. The team in Letterkenny supports the parent company’s commercial loan serving department. Our function enhances their ability to work hours, which support the various loan systems available in the US. We also support the operation by being the Business Continuity Planning (BCP) location. Up until this point I worked in the US for 33 years in banking operations. Of these, the last 17 were in support of the commercial real estate operation within the bank.

The Culture I had always planned to return home and live with my mother in Ireland after my father passed away 11 years ago. This was further solidified last year when I found myself on the wrong side of downsizing in the last company I worked for in the US. I made a trip from the US to visit my mother in April and saw an ad for this job and history was made. I applied for the job on a Friday, went to Mayo to visit family and when I returned the following Friday, I had an interview with Pramerica. I was offered a new job the following week. What also attracted me to the job was the fact that Pramerica use exactly the same financial applications as I had worked on in the US for the past 17 years. It all came together because I saw an opportunity to use the skills in Pramerica that I had developed in America.

Letterkenny Now down to the gem of this little story. I live in Cranford which is less than ˝ hour outside of Letterkenny. I was able to work in Ireland and take advantage of the fact that I had a home in Donegal. I was able to take my experiences from the States and use them in the most tranquil and serene of settings. We have restaurants, theatres, and a grand night life. Even Bus Eireann provides ample access to Dublin should you need it. In other words, living near Letterkenny I do not miss the New York scene.
