Teleworking

Teleworking practices have been developed at Pramerica to meet the need for alternative work arrangements to promote employee well being and contribute to organisational objectives.

This is a unique benefit for employees working at Pramerica. Teleworking is a very popular working arrangement, as 20% of employees work from home. Employees work remotely in locations right throughout Ireland. We have employees working from locations ranging from Donegal, Dublin, Kerry, Limerick, Derry, Sligo, Tyrone and Armagh.

Brigid McDonnell, Senior Development Manager. "I started teleworking in Sept 2004 and find it fantastic. I no longer have a long commute to work, I have fewer distractions, fewer interruptions and in general have a much better work life balance. I have a dedicated office in my house which is very important. The IT setup is excellent, I can be on-line all day with my broadband connection. Calls are routed from my work extension to my home office phone via IP Softphone. IP Softphone has been a tremendous help - it provides a call history as well as letting
me know who is trying to get through when I am on another call.

The increased use of instant messaging has also been a huge benefit. In fact some of my staff have commented that I am more reachable when I am teleworking than when I am in the office. The social side of work, meeting people face to face etc is the only thing I miss. I manage this by ensuring I am in the office for two or three days every two weeks for management and staff meetings. All in all teleworking has been a great decision and definitely a good move."
