The Work My adventure with Pramerica began in July 2007 in what would be the most rewarding career step in my life. Pramerica hired me on as an off-shore team member for the CTM Network Systems Support group. I support the parent company’s extensive mainframe VTAM and TCP/IP network as well as any related software requiring host communications. Some of the major projects I have been involved with include securing CICS to CICS connections using IBM’s cryptographic technology, configuring networks for industry wide Business Continuation tests, implementing firewall technology on the mainframe to secure network connections, and working with the Operating Systems Support staff with upgrades and maintenance. One of the biggest thrills I get from my work is in knowing I support an enterprise network infrastructure for a Fortune 100 company. I also have had the opportunity to work on multiple OS platforms including Windows, Unix, and z/OS. I am also very fortunate to be a member of our local CTM team in Letterkenny. Working with them has been a rewarding experience. The knowledge and expertise my fellow teammates possess is astounding, and since our group is a fair representation of CTM, we don’t have to go far to get valuable input or answers to important technical questions.

Letterkenny I have to admit that I was more then just a little apprehensive about moving to Ireland, let alone a place called Letterkenny in Co Donegal. I stepped out of my nice little American box, dragged my family across the Big Pond we call the Atlantic Ocean to a place I’ve never been to. I’ve never stepped foot out of my country before, so what a giant leap of faith. What I knew of Ireland was thatched cottages, pubs with cozy fire- places, donkey carts, rolling green hills, excellent musicians, and Yeats. What I learned since I stepped off the plane on that cool August morning is that Ireland not just a land rich in history, culture, and majestic landscapes. Ireland is a state of mind - it is about slowing down, taking a deep breath, and enjoying each moment as they come. Coming from America, I realise that working is a means to an end, not an end in itself. You work to live, not live to work. My children have settled into school quite well. Both have started talking with the Donegal accent and have been learning Irish. I couldn’t be more pleased with the way things have worked out. From my point of view, Donegal is an excellent place to raise a family. On Letterkenny itself, I’ll say these two words: My Home. Apply for a job like this
